Blend reader GottaLaff of The Political Carnival was so incensed about the right wing, racist nutbag who ripped up a poster of Rosa Parks during a Sen. McCaskill town hall that he contacted David Shuster about it, and then emailed me to say his report was on.
Earlier today, I Tweeted David Shuster about the video Paddy found of a clip that the corporate media had conveniently ignored (they only aired an out-of-context segment that showed an African American woman being ejected from a town hall meeting, implying that she had instigated the disruption).Shuster apparently found the clip as informative as we did, and included it as part of a broader discussion, and for that we thank him.

Way to keep the crazy going.I’ll grant you the “nutbag” part, but how do you know that the rude person who came over, grabbed the poster and crumpled it up was “right wing” or “racist”? Do you know more than what we see on that video? Do you know if anyone besides the person who brought it knew the poster depicted Rosa Parks (assuming it actually did)? Do you know what actually happened to the person in blue? I see one person being taken off in one direction and one being taken off in the other direction? Why do you say that only one was ejected? How do you know this?
Do you not see how you are contributing to the madness with unsupported accusations. Racist!! Right wing nutbag! Only the black lady with the Rosa Parks poster is ejected!! Oh really?
And maybe it’s time to use the “teabagger” epithet more judiciously. What does it even mean anymore? The guy in blue is a “teabagger crazy”? In fact, you don’t know the first thing about him other than that he looks to be a rude jerk.
I heard that:
People came in with signs when they weren’t allowed. They were booed by the crowd for doing so. They put them away when told to.
I saw that:
When one of the women began to unroll a poster to show the photographer, someone came over, snatched it away and crumpled it up. Both were led away.
I assumed that:
From the fast response of what looked to be real cops, the organizers were trying to keep a lid on the batsh!ttery that has been going on across the country at these meetings.
Now explain how you came to your conclusions about this incident. You just know?
don’t you have a thighmaster workout to do?I mean, I was looking over your posted stuff and I don’t think in depth analysis is your deal. So, how about put a lid on your attitude missy?
My thighs could do terrible or wonderful things to you. But first you’d have to beg for it. After you had apologized for your impudence.
Nevertheless, your remark is the sort of drivel I’ve come to expect from those who really just want to rant mindlessly. “I mean, I was looking over your posted stuff and….” Oh right, you don’t have any posts here.
You have one chance with me…talk about the issues or go annoy someone else. Missy.
Flag on the playMisogyny and ad hominem. 10 yard penalty.
Re: ‘tude — check mirror.
Um are you a troll? The man in question was later arrested, but the lady with the poster was in fact the one ejected at the time. There is plenty of information about the event out there if you care to look for it. Or did you just feel like attacking Pam?
But disrespecting Pamand acting like she’s crazy for stating the obvious (and known facts now) is okay? You have a point about ghostbuck but Pollyanna shouldn’t just get a pass because of that.
I don’t think ghostbuck is being mysogynystic in the least; he’s referring to Pollyannna’s most recent post:

Sorry, but Polly’s throwing some very uninformed shade up there. The fact that the sign-ripper has been arrested is already old news. Even a local Fox affiliate is reporting it:

We mostlyjust ignore our resident trolls here. Less frustrating than feeding them.
Pollyanna’s whole shtick here has always been to attackevery progressive comment in sight, usually in terribly self-righteous terms. And when she’s called on it, she asks with teary eyes and a trembling voice, “Why are you picking on me?” Whether she is actually a knee-jerk reactionary or merely a self-aggrandizing prig or something else entirely is open to discussion, I suppose, but her behavior is beyond question. It’s on display nearly every time she posts.
Re: ad homshttp://www.pamshouseblend.com/…
See?
Medaka…Pam apparently felt outraged enough about this incident that she posted two front page diaries about it in less than fifteen hours. In her first post at 8:15 AM EST, she teed it up as having everything to do about race. Someone said the poster depicted Rosa Parks, after all, and the old man who snatched the poster away was white while the woman was black. That’s all we knew.
Do you believe that in every angry interaction between a white person and a black person, the white person should be labeled a racist, as Pam did?
And by the way, you stated that my “most recent post” here was from May 16th.You are incorrect.
But since you mention it, do you have something against Paul Eugene? Well do you?
At least we know what those 4th of July teabag rallies were all aboutThe teabag rallies were really just a way for the insurance corporations, through their shills and their Republican allies, to gather the contact information for highly motivated Obama haters in order to unleash them as an angry mob for attacks on healthcare and insurance reform.
It seems to me that there also are lots of people taking part in the town hall protests who aren’t so much angry as afraid. Ignorant and afraid.
I saw Lawrence O’Donnell yesterday as he conducted a very gentle interview with one of the town hall protesters, Katy Abrams. She seemed genuinely taken aback to learn that Medicare is socialized medicine. Many of the teabaggers are people who are being suckered by the people they thought they could trust, suckered into being used as props to work against their own self-interest.
The teabaggers are the most obvious targets, but really they are just being used. Just like the older lady who tore up the Rosa Parks poster — she looked very likely to be of age to participate in Medicare. Does she have any idea what will happen to Medicare if we don’t have reform? This whole scene is astoundingly sad.
Of teabaggers and older ladies. How do you define “teabagger,” and what does it mean in relation to all these people who are going to these meetings genuinely trying to figure out what’s up with health reform? I don’t use the term. It started out being funny; now it just seems like one more catch-all slur.
The “older lady” you refer to is, in fact, a man, who has been identified as James Winfrey, 67, of Cedar Hill, MO. I stopped listening to the clip above of the talking head commentators when I heard them referring to this guy as a woman.
