I’ve received a couple of notes regarding the Angie Zapata MySpace page, and I believe it’s going to be relieving news to Angie Zapata’s family. From the previously active link to that webpage:
“This user has either cancelled their membership, or their account has been deleted.”
I guess there really was no space on MySpace for a hate crime murderer Allen Ray Andrade’s webpage.
And for Angie, I can’t help but think it’s a wonderful birthday present. From an August 5th tweet by GLAAD‘s Adam Bass:
Rest in peace, Angie. We’re thinking of you today.

Yes.
Happy Birthday, Angie.
Yay!Kudos to MySpace for realizing that even “free speech” doesn’t require private entities to provide third parties with a forum for hateful idiocy. That steaming pile of pathetic misdirection and self-serving justification desperately needed to disappear… and now it has.
Good on Myspace…For taking such disgusting, violent, lethal H8 out of their community.
And btw…Happy Birthday to Angie. May she RIP.
good work Autumn and othersEnough noteriety and complaints are what likely toppled this hateful site.
That’s very good news!I’m glad to hear that Myspace has taken that vile piece of garbage down. Good riddance!
Happy Birthday, Angie. I hope you are resting in peace, and you will not be forgotten.
One more thing…Thank you Autumn for helping to spread the word about that awful Myspace page. I’m confident the pressure on Myspace from those like us, who could see the hatred, misogyny, and transphobia in that page for what it was, was at least partially responsible for Myspace’s decision to remove the page.
Your activism has scored yet another victory. :-)
MySpace Terms ViolationIt is spelled out right in the MySpace TOS:
Damn.I hate it when that happens. You know, when you make a simple mistake like, say, committing first-degree murder, and then people, like, JUDGE you and stuff, all because of that. It’s like, dude! Lighten up already!
Glad to here itHappy Birthday Angie; rest in peace.
Myspace PageI complained and this is part of the email I received from Myspace:
We appreciate you bringing the profile(s) to our attention. These accounts have already been deleted or are scheduled for deletion based on prior review. The only reason we delete a MySpace profile is for violation of our Terms & Conditions. Just so you know, we cannot delete a profile based on personal conflicts between MySpace users.
Happy Birthday AngieI reported the account and encouraged others to do the same. Even my Episcopal minister lodged a complaint. Good for MySpace.
Autumn,Apparently you didn’t get my reply on your other entry. Yes, Myspace took it down, but the asshat (or his sisters) created a new page.

OhAnd so I reported him again
Me too!I got the same reply. But a search on Myspace shows that a new page has been created. See my comment below.
Quoting that site: “Who I’d like to meet: Jesus & Ghandi “I wonder why? Does he want to kill them, too?
Probably!I say the state should help the first one come true even quicker.
YepAnd, from reading its content in the newer Blend post, it still seems to fit the bill re. violating the TOS. The essential message of the new post still amounts to the same hateful, violent, transphobic crap as before: the notion that surgically formed genitalia (and indeed any variance at all from biased, socially constructed gender “norms”) somehow justify violence.
The bastard will keep putting it up… and we’ll keep having MySpace TOS it. (And/or hopefully get the guy in hot water with the correctional officials…)
