Tuesday evening Oregon voter Gary Randall announced his attack on Washington state law. He is trying to block the Secretary of State from making public the public documents known as Referendum 71 petitions.
Let us remember what Gary Randall is trying to do with Referendum 71. He is trying to prevent The Domestic Partnership Expansion Law of 2009 (SB 5688) from going into effect, thus denying vital protections to elderly heterosexual domestic partners and same-sex domestic partners. As The Olympian stated in SB 5688 is about fairness, not gay marriage:
What [SB 5688] does is give same-sex partners and some heterosexual senior couples equal access to laws available to married couples.Examples?
The Senate Bill gives same-sex couples:
• The right to use sick leave to care for a domestic partner.
• The right to wages and benefits when a domestic partner is injured, and to unpaid wages upon the death of a domestic partner. ¦ The right to unemployment and disability insurance benefits.
• The right to workers’ compensation coverage.
• Insurance rights, including rights under group policies, policy rights after the death of a domestic partner, conversion rights and continuing coverage rights.
• Rights related to adoption, child custody and child support.
• Business succession rights.

Critics will portray this legislation as special rights for gays and lesbians. It’s not. It all about legal parity, and extends those same rights to unmarried heterosexual couples where at least one partner is at least 62 years of age.At its core, Senate Bill 5688 is all about fairness and equity.
Gary’s actions are a transparent effort to get public pity points in advance because he knows that the people who signed the petition will not be harassed when their names go public, as he loves to predict. He never misses the opportunity to cry wolf.
He’s likely also trying to keep the names hidden so that people are unable to prove that they’ve been duped by his paid signature-gathering mercenaries.Why is Oregon Gary attacking the state? Shouldn’t this be a task delegated to his Washington operative, Larry Stickney? After all, Larry’s anti-domestic partnership organization has it’s own house lawyer. It’s none other than Stephen “there are going to be millions of people fleeing California once the starvation program begins down there” Pidgeon. You remember Mr. Pidgeon. He was the legal brain behind Larry’s decision to waste precious signature-gathering time by challenging the ballot language of his own referendum, only to give up the challenge before any ruling could occur…. Ok, so maybe I’m not so surprised Gary ignored his campaign mates and attacked the law of his neighboring state himself.
By the way, if you click through to read gary’s full attack warning, you’ll notice the name of a new organization called “Protect Washington Families”. Just how many organizations does this guy need to feel special? He’s already got Faith & Freedom Foundation, Faith & Freedom Network, Faith & Freedom PAC and Protect Marriage Washington. Is this a re-branding to dupe the doubtful, like Philip Morris becoming Altria? People certainly should be skeptical of his motives and methods, that’s for sure.

It’s the videoThe video is the big reason he’s doing this, and it really needs to go from Friedes’ hands to KOMO, KING and KIRO, ASAP.
OH!And I will tell you right now that the Secretary of State does not play around when it comes to intimidation like this. There’s a reason they’re checking each and every signature, and there’s a reason the rules of what make a valid signature are so strict.
In light of this, the Columbia study, Randall’s own study and a whole raft of reasons, I believe this to be the last gasp for their movement.

Sorry to disappoint you But movements like this never die. They grow weaker and weaker until they are all but underground. Subsisting off of extremist fears and the waning strength of the inbred and adolescent. They rarely do ever surface again. Unless they have lost something of value. “My precious.”
