Dear Supporter,
- Should people who disagree with same-sex marriage be treated by the law as racists and bigots?
- Should schools force kids to learn that it’s good for men to marry men and women to marry women?
- Should Congress allow a radical judge in Boston to impose same-sex marriage across the nation?
I trust your answer to these questions is an emphatic “No!”
But these nightmares could happen soon—because President Barack Obama and liberal leaders in Congress have promised to repeal the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
That’s why I’m asking you to (1) sign the online petition to Congress and/or (2) send a donation to join the Two Million For Marriage Campaign, a project of my friends at the National Organization for Marriage (NOM).
Our historic campaign has one goal: STOP Congress from abolishing the Defense of Marriage Act (known as DOMA).
DOMA was carefully written to specifically shield any state from being forced to recognize gay marriages from other states.
This makes DOMA a strong firewall against out-of-control, anti-marriage judges.
But . . . if Congress repeals DOMA, then gay couples, who “married” in the six states where radical officials have imposed gay marriage, will sue other states to recognize their “marriages”.
Soon gay marriage, like a grassfire, would spread across America!
In state after state, gay marriage activists and liberal courts would rapidly destroy laws protecting marriage—even constitutional amendments approved by voters.
That’s why I hope you will join our Two Million For Marriage Campaign with an online gift that will instantly be put into action!
As a U.S. senator, I helped pass the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996. But now President Obama has vowed to “repeal . . . the Defense of Marriage Act.”
President Obama’s campaign was in great part bankrolled by a small yet zealous n
etwork of Hollywood liberals and gay marriage activists.
This elite has been plotting to take away our right to define marriage as a husband and a wife . . . and then to use legalized gay marriage to indoctrinate our children in school.
- In Massachusetts, where radical judges imposed gay marriage on unwilling citizens, schoolchildren as young as first grade were read books like King and King, which features a gay wedding between two princes, complete with a kiss.
- Judges have banned parents from opting out their own children from same-sex “education” in their schools.
- A Christian adoption agency—Catholic Charities—was forced to shut down because it refused to obey Massachusetts’ requirement to give innocent children to gay married couples.
Please click here to stop these outrages from spilling across all of America.
Make no mistake, the plot to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act is a ruthless attempt by a rich, politically powerful minority to take away the rights of the vast majority of Americans and faith communities.
For example, billionaire gay activist Tim Gill has vowed to “punish the wicked”—meaning people like you who oppose gay marriage.
That’s why I need you to click here to (1) sign your online petition to Congress and (2) donate to the Two Million For Marriage Campaign.
We aim to bury Congress in an avalanche of petitions telling them: “Don’t Mess With Marriage!” Don’t repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. Not now. Not ever.
But we’ll need every petition.
And while your petitions are being delivered on Capitol Hill, your contribution will be hard at work throughout America creating a firestorm of resistance to the plan to repeal DOMA. Your donation will help:
- Recruit millions of Americans to stop the repeal of DOMA through ads on radio, TV, Internet, magazines . . . mail and e-mail . . . interviews . . . and more.
- Build coalitions across parties, races, and denominations to create a chorus to stop the repeal of DOMA that the Washington politicians cannot ignore.
- Persuade members of Congress. The National Organization for Marriage is legally allowed to lobby Congress—and with your help, we will!
The National Organization for Marriage—creator of the Two Million For Marriage Campaign—is a proven winner in the battle to defend marriage and children.
We helped win the battle for marriage in California in 2008, playing a crucial lead role in the Proposition 8 marriage amendment.
We are endorsed by Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family. Dr. Dobson and his wife, Shirley, personally contributed to the National Organization for Marriage.
That’s why I urge you to join the Two Million For Marriage Campaign today! Click here to (1) sign your online petition to Congress and (2) donate to help us convince Congress and America to stop Barack Obama from abolishing the Defense of Marriage Act.
If we don’t act now, DOMA will soon be repealed—quickly, quietly, and with little fanfare—just like the gay marriage activists are planning.
It’s up to us—you and me—to stop them by petitioning Congress and recruiting millions of Americans to join in our effort.
Please let me hear from you today.
God bless you,

Rick Santorum

He heThanks! You just made my day! Any day Rick Santorum and 2M4M are in the same sentence is a good day.
Seriously, Santorum was just a squinch too blatantly hateful for anyone in the real world to take him seriously. He turns people off, and having him associated with NOM will only help our cause.
To me this sounds like a last ditch effort to raise money. A lot of people on the hard right are seriously ticked with Maggie ever since the news broke that she was taking a hefty salary from NOM at the same time that most of New England was going pro-marriage. She’s been screaming for money and has been pulling out all the stops lately to no avail. Santorum is just the latest wind-up doll in her repertoire.
Ricky….sweetieWe have straight clients who love the gays, who spend two million on one wedding.
Bring out your damndest in broke old Daddy Dobson, and we’ll out fund you 10 to 1.
btw Ricky how’s your sniveling kids?
This make so sense…
So let me get this straight, if DOMA is repealed it will take away their right to discriminate against gay people? We can’t have that can we?
Slobodan Milosevic supporter Santorum still “lovin’ th’ fascists”He never changes, if he cannot find an oppressor to support, he’ll oppress people on his own
We are Empowered
I love how suddenly we’re a “rich, politically powerful minority.” When in the 40 years since Stonewall, the only protection we’ve gotten at the federal level has been getting rid of the sodomy laws. When we’ve spent the last six months timidly begging Obama to look our way, just once.
If we’re so damned powerful and influential, why aren’t gay marriages legal in all 50 states? Where’s our gay Supreme Court justice, our gay President? Why can’t we even get friggin’ DADT repealed, or ENDA enacted?
For a group with so much money and power, we’re not doing so well.
Where is the petition to Repeal DOMA?
That makes no sense to me either. How exactly does marriage equality take away the rights of anyone? The answer is it doesn’t, but that makes for good spin for the right-wing talking heads to use to whip up the fears of the uninformed and ignorant. That, and the “won’t anyone think of the children?” cry, which Santorum used quite liberally in latest this plea for money for NOM.
The only thing that a repeal of DOMA would take away from them would be their ability to codify their bigotry into law. How exactly that is a right is beyond me.
Oh Ricky…Thanks to Dan Savage, I will always chuckle when I hear your last name. :-)
The kids in leesburg va with fake Penn addressses to claim Pa funds?those kids?
a lot…..…of GOPers with kids do that (Chris Smith NJ-04 is one) how can we make that an issue next year?
Ricky, Ricky, Ricky…We can always count on him to get down and dirty! First it was “man on dog”, and now he’s into “2M4M”. Our favorite Santorum (just like The Peter) just proves that the radical right wingnuts are always into the wildest sex acts imaginable.
Btw, speaking of the Balkans…Albania may soon legalize marriage equality.
New Thread Title: Ricky Santorum is a LIAR
That is a LIE and Santorum has to know it. Here is a link to the relevant Boston Globe Article from the time, entitled: Catholic Charities stuns state, ends adoptions
http://www.boston.com/news/loc…
That’s right, the Church closed its doors voluntarily in 2006, and only AFTER it had learned the agency has quietly been complying with the Commonwealth’s anti-discrimination law (NOT the gay marriage law) for years. Once the four MA bishops found this out, they demanded an end to the practice. In reaction for the bishops’ actions, 20% of the Charity’s board quit in protest.
Here’s the relevant portion of the article:
We need to counter this latest lie of the anti-gay right. The state did not shut down the agency, the agency was shut down by bigots for failing to promote their bigotry.
Santorum back to anti-gay politics, eh?You just can’t keep the Hogs away from the trough.
another lie
Oh, you mean giving gays the right to marry takes away the rights of “opposite sex couples” do marry?
The current issue of Newsweek features an article on polyamory, expect Ricky and his minions to use that as a weapon.
Rumor has it that he’s planning to run for governor of PA next year With both a state amendment to ban gay marriage AND a bill to legalize it before the legislature, Ricky is just getting warmed up. If he actually runs, he’s sure to make gay rights an issue here. Hell, it’s pretty much the only one he has.
Okay, I confessI didn’t know what 2M4M stood for before I read this article. But when I saw the acronym (again, before I read the article), I thought it translated as “2 Men 4 Men”. That is where my mind is. Carry on.
That is what it stood for before Maggie had the brilliant idea of propagating it for herself. That’s why the gay blogosphere has been having such fun with it since it was leaked.
Leakedand Santorum in the same thread. Stop!! I’m going to pee.
I thought 2M4M meant that too!But puhleeze, don’t mention “santorum” and “leaked” in the same sentence.
… we don’t have a left and a right party in this country any more. We have a center right party, and a crazy party. And over the last thirty odd years, Democrats have moved to the right, and the right has moved into a mental hospital. — Bill Maher
Ah okay!So I wasn’t doing the distorting on my end. I kinda thought so but I was like, hey, maybe I missed a memo.
