I’m hitting the hay early…it must be hormones…right Mr. Liddy?
Today Joe Sudbay was up on Capitol Hill and he shot some video of Judy Shepard discussing the hate crimes bill.
First, the Hate Crimes bill will be on the Senate floor this week as an amendment to the Department of Defense Authorization bill. That’s the same vehicle to which hate crimes was attached in September of 2007, when it broke a filibuster by receiving 60 votes. There will probably be another filibuster attempt, meaning we’ll need 60 votes again — but there should be even more yes-votes this time. DoD authorization is a must-pass bill, which is why Hate Crimes is being added to it.
Judy Shepard, the mother of Matthew Shepard, appeared with Majority Leader Harry Reid at a press briefing in the Capitol this afternoon to push for passage of the bill. She’s been working on it for years. I had never met Judy before, but I really felt like I was in the presence of a hero.

Bless Judy Shepard…
…and note another point about today. Reid appeared with her at this press conference about hate crimes while BO, who at La Tea Party for The Gays recently, again employed the unique definitions from the OED…Obama English Dictionary… describing pausing only long enough to have a still photo taken with her a couple of months back having a “meeting” with her.
Yes she is a hero and certainly her son was also. When we remember the Matthew Sheppard murder, we should think “there goes I”.

You do know that Obama’s going to veto the Defence Bill? He’s said so repeatedly. The Bill contains a provision for many billions of dollars for F-22 fighters, that neither the USAF, the Pentagon, the Defence Department nor the President wants.
Obama’s been quite firm on this, more so than on other issues. The Defence bill in its current form will be vetoed. Adding controversial issues to it is a way of making sure that appearances are kept up, while not having anything of substance accomplished that you don’t really want.

To Quote Bil:
Please see my comments in the Moratorium on DADT threadYou’ve said exactly what I thought, Zoe. As I stated earlier:
Sen. Gillibrand’s amendment would go on the Defense Authorization Bill, which gives DOD its budget. Right now there is a fight between Obama and the Pentagon, and Congress over money in the budget for an expanded F-22 fighter program. Senators with states in which Lockheed Martin produces the plane want the money in the budget. The Pentagon and Obama do not want the planes and would rather the money be spent elsewhere, like better armored vehicles for troops in the sandbox. Based on the Pentagon’s recommendations on the F-22 (WE DON’T NEED MORE), Obama has threatened to veto any Defense Authorization Bill which has language allocating $1.75 billion for more F-22s that his DOD doesn’t want or need. Which would mean a veto of this moratorium if it even got through committee, onto the final bill, and it passed in both chambers.
Beware newly-appointed Senators bearing gifts to the LGBT community that may get vetoed by the President on another basis because they are facing a tough reelection challenge in their home state and need to suck up to the left. Beware Democratic Senate Majority Leaders who ostensibly back such a gift knowing that it won’t get passed, but for which they can still attempt to take credit with a seriously pissed off voting bloc which has withdrawn a LOT of money recently.
Seriously, guys, this whole thing smells funny. If Kirsten Gillibrand believes in a moratorium, let her office sponsor a standalone bill. If Harry Reid really believes in a “permanent moratorium,” let him as Majority Leader sponsor a bill for DADT repeal. Don’t attach an amendment for what amounts to an 18 month gay troop entrapment onto a DOD budget that stands a good chance to be vetoed because John Kerry and Ted Kennedy are sucking up to defense industry contractors which bring manufacturing jobs to their state.
By supporting a moratorium, Gillibrand earns street cred with the left in New York at no real cost to herself, Harry Reid can trick some gullible gays out of their money by appearing to give shit, the moratorium amendment either gets stripped out in committee or vetoed with the rest of the original, and it will get killed in the end when Obama vetoes and sends the bill back to the Senate. Meanwhile, gay servicemembers still suffer.
The comparrison should be in the foods catagoryquiche and cosmos
I knew it, there is a catchThe Democrats want to attach not only the hate crimes bill but the DADT moratorium to the same bill Obama has been promising to veto because of the f-22 budget that is included in the bill? SO the democrats in congress are in a pissing contest with the Administration and we are the “bundle of sticks” they want to use to light this fire. Man I am really starting to hate the democrats.
You got itPublicize this to all the LGBTs you know…show them how Congress isn’t willing to stand up to the Administration by offering standalone legislation to help us, but instead attaches the hate crimes and DADT moratorium bills as riders to a Defense bill that will be vetoed so they can claim street cred and try to open the gAyTM again. They’re trying to appease their Messiah by giving him an easy out in the form of an F-22 veto while making sure our rights are killed and they can claim credit for trying.
I’m not buying that crap. I’m not even renting it.
Screw the Democrats. Vote independent.

had the wierdest thing fly by me in our yard just nowI was walking the dog in an area of our yard with no trees, and it’s an acre between our house and the neighbor.
About an arm’s length right in front of my face a light object about the size of a softball, came right passed me like a fast pitch. I didn’t see any wings flap. my guess it was a small owl or sizable bat. Either way I didn’t stay around out there to find out. We have the weirdest night critters here, one night I walked near a tall Camelia with a possom hanging upside down a couple feet from my face, hissed at me, scared the Bejezzus out of this city boy.
ha!I am seriously deficient in my gay C.E. credits. Haven’t seen any incarnation of Gypsy. Faith Dane as Mazeppa was the sh*t and had me guffawing. For that, may I offer something that still makes me soil myself:

speaking of weird we get hundreds of these banana spiders in late summer http://episteme.arstechnica.co…
I’m not keen on spiders and these damn things make webs sometimes spanning 6 feet wide X 8 feet tall, and at night it’s awfully creepy to walk through a web, not knowing if the spider in on you.
School is deja vu all over againI’m sitting in the last of my paralegal classes, we’re talking about the Hawaii state legislative process, and I’m just re-living the Civil Unions bill battle, the lobbying, and the protestors once the bill got into the Senate committees. **sigh** The early House portion of the process was fine because we surprised the christian hate groups. They weren’t ready. I liveblogged the House Judiciary Committee hearing in a small conference room, sitting on top of a huge file safe, Macbook on lap, in dress slacks and blouse and black Converse sneakers. Everyone was happy, pleasant, calm. Then the House vote happened, and that’s when the Red Shirts first appeared. And they just kept on growing and coming and screaming louder and louder and amping up the christian hate rhetoric and the lies. Then the off-island money from Focus On Hate flowed in to fund radio and print ads. The the hate preachers came in to UH and a bunch of us had our photos posted on the hate group’s website. Then the phone calls and emails within the mormon church started. Then I liveblogged the Senate judiciary committee hearing a day after my car accident, through a concussion, in a huge auditorium with red shirts bleeding hate all through the hallways. Then came the rape threats, the car keyings, the muttered epithets and sideways dirty looks from my neighbors, the trash which would mysteriously appear in my yard overnight. Then came the final failure to pull HB444 to the Senate floor, and the Red Shirts cheering, screaming, “Faggots burn in hell!” at us.
I am sitting in class listening to a lecture on the legislative process. I’m very well acquainted with the legislative process.
**sigh**

Here, the dental drama just keeps goingOver a week ago my lover had three teeth extracted, then a couple days later a dry socket occured, then another trip to the dentist, where packing was sutured in, then he messed around cutting the sutures, and he had pain off the charts for 2 days, today we went back for trip 3. He got heavy duty pain meds, he won’t take, he reacts bad to pain meds. I hope his gums heal quickly.
While waiting I read an interesting article in a Details magazine of a 20yo White Power leader who controls Stormfront website….what a sick little f*ck this guy is, and he’s thick as thieves with David Duke.

clove bud essential oil …Dry socket – ouch. Eyes-rolling-back-in-the-head ouch. This-is-in-the-same-league-as-my-ruptured-disc ouch.
My dentist gave me medication to soak on a small wad of cotton and apply directly … it smelled strongly of clove. When I checked out with the front desk, the assistant said that when the medication ran out, I could just get a small bottle of clove essential oil at my local health food store. The medication was derived from it, and it was the active ingredient. Worked like a charm together with OTC pain med. However the clove oil was so aromatic that even after removing the cotton wad and brushing, it ruined food for me for the duration. Still, a small price to pay.
Best of luck to your squeeze.
