Just like Ted Haggard, Gov. Mark Sanford's “little Sanford” took over the South Carolina governor and was led to his Argentine concubine by Satan, according to his spiritual adviser.
Each Sunday afternoon in May, Gov. Mark Sanford and his wife hosted five other couples at the executive mansion for a spiritual “boot camp.” Topics discussed during the hour-and-a-half-long sessions included forgiveness and “not loving your wife as Christ loved the church.”
…In an interview with The Associated Press this weekend at his Columbia office, just blocks from the State House, [Warren "Cubby"] Culbertson said he believed his friend when he said that this was his only marital transgression. He thinks Sanford was simply caught off guard by “the power of darkness.”
…”God hates lawlessness and is tireless in His desire to dissuade man from his fascination with lawlessness,” reads a paper titled “Cubby's Talks.” “Our hearts are lions' dens of devouring lusts. Lawlessness torments righteous souls every day.”
Culbertson does not believe the other woman went out of her way to seduce a married man. When asked if he had met Maria, Culbertson paused, then looked up, an embarrassed smile creasing his face. “I'm not going to comment,” he said.

The faux “Mea Culpa”is fascinating, particularly in terms of this interview. So Sanford’s friends knew Maria it seems. So, the old boy network did not try and dissuade Sanford when it was ongoing, only now that he is caught and their shallow and self serving public Christianity is open to question….

Power of Darkness RevealedPersonally, I believe it is the power of Darkness that brought slavery to South Carolina, established the system of sharecropping that ruled farming there for many decades, and enforced the laws of Jim Crow.
Sex in Argentina seems somewhat beneath the power of Darkness’s level of attention.
On the other hand, I DO believe it is the power of Darkness that causes the people of South Carolina to continue to vote for men like Mark Sanford, George Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Strom Thurmond.

Actually NPRhad an interview with the author of the book “The Family” the other day. Because Sanford is part of this group or at least involved with them.
The scary part, was the comment Sanford made “That I am like David.” Which was confusing, until I heard what it really meant.
The Family (a “Christian” organization) believes they are like David. This is based on the question, “why was King David considered so great? He was a terrible man and did terrible things, so why was he considered great.” The Family’s answer? That David was great because God choose him, therefore it doesn’t matter what David did in his life, he was still great because he was God’s chosen servant.
So Sandford is saying that he can do whatever he wants and it doesn’t matter because he is God’s chosen servant.
There are also a lot of other issues regarding The Family, like did you know they created the Presidential Prayer Breakfast? They do not have churches or a real organized “religion” but receive religious tax exemptions, they have a house on K Street that they rent out to US Representatives at a VERY reduced price (those people almost always have “R’s” at the end of their titles).
