A set of posts that Ron Boehme has up on his website show just how shallow and morally bankrupt the local radical right is. Move over “world’s greatest holocaust”, Ron’s got a local referendum to run!
Ron Boehme is on the board of directors of Gary Randall’s Protect Marriage Washington, the misnamed organization behind Washington’s anti-domestic partnership Referendum 71. Ron also happens to be friends with Oregon Gary, who also runs the Faith & Freedom Network, Foundation and PAC that have benefitted Boehme in the past.
In his recent effort to sound disapproving about the assassination of the abortion provider Dr. Tiller, Ron couldn’t resist repeating the terrorist trigger words “satanic”, “murderer”, “baby killer” and “mass murderers”. And just last week he talked about “the world’s greatest holocaust”, saying
Forty-five million innocent human beings (so far) were killed in the United States and eight hundred million world-wide. It’s the world’s greatest holocaust, wrapped in the language of freedom and choice.
Ok, so we get the message that abortion is THE NUMBER ONE CONCERN for Mr. Boehme. Except that to Boehme, “the holocaust” of abortion is sooo last century. The alleged slaughter of millions of innocent tiny Americans just doesn’t rank any more. The great concern for the 21st Century according to Boehme? Domestic Partnerships. But hey, cut the guy some slack, he’s got a money mill to help Gary run. The Tiny Innocents will just have to save themselves. Radical Right sincerity at its finest.
Look at the sky-is-falling wacky doo that Boehme insists will happen if my domestic partnership remains intact.
Altering the God-given, time-tested definition of marriage and family will:
Sentence many homosexuals to a Christ-less eternity. It will give them an excuse for their lifestyle and another reason to harden their conscience against God. The Bible is not unclear on this issue: “Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, who are idol worshippers, adulterers, male prostitutes, homosexuals, thieves, greedy people, drunkards, abusers, and swindlers-none of these will share in the Kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9,10).
Multiply venereal diseases (homosexuals are twice as promiscuous as heterosexuals), depression, suicide rates, low self image, and other social problems that are much higher among homosexuals.
Decrease the number of marriages in society and actually discourage people from marrying at all-leading to a vast array of live-in arrangements and its attendant problems. This is already taking place in Europe, especially in the Scandinavian nations.
Lead to group marriages (three or more), people marrying animals (bestiality), and adults hooking up with “consenting children” (pedophilia). If it’s “all about equality,” then many other deviant lifestyles will line up to get their sexual wishes and access the benefits.
Confuse impressionable children to accept immoral choices and lifestyles leading to their own eternal separation from God.
Cause a flight from the public schools by people of faith who no longer can excuse their children from pro-homosexual sex education courses (already happening in states like Massachusetts).
Lead to “hate crimes” being prosecuted against pastors and Christian leaders that speak out against the sin of homosexuality.
Lead to out-and-out persecution of Christians and others who have convictions about sexual immorality.
Lead to smaller families, economic problems, dropping birthrates, and the ultimate destruction of the nuclear family (already happening in Europe). This is the paramount social issue of the 21st century.
He forgot “they’ll eat our babies!!!”, but nobody’s perfect. This guy reminds me an awful lot of that other crackpot member of the Crumbling Coalition of Fanatical Fringe, Stephen “Government was created to kill” Pidgeon?
Incidentally, Boehme ran for his local House seat back in 2006 (he lost). I’m not surprised that he considers Gary Randall a friend, since Boehme was one of the Washington candidates that the Oregonian gave institutional support to. Anywhoo, in the lead up to the elections, a literate conservative in Boehme’s district went to hear Boehme debate, and had this to say
RON BOEHME (R) VS. LARRY SEAQUIST (D)I first met both of these individuals at a South Kitsap Kiwanis breakfast meeting. Each candidate was given time to answer questions from the audience and to make general opening and closing statements. When I first saw Ron Boehme, I thought, “Man, he’s getting my vote.” He was sharply dressed, professional in appearance and besides – I vote Republican anyway. When Larry Seaquist got up, I knew I wouldn’t vote for him. He looked to be 138 years old and lacked Boehme’s slick, professional delivery. But over the course of the next half hour, I knew that I would never vote for Boehme and that Seaquist had my support. And now that the election is over, I was delighted to see Seaquist soar to victory.
Ron Boehme used his time bashing gays and espousing the virtues of family and Christianity. Okay, so that’s fine with me. I’m not at all a supporter of the gay lifestyle, I’m very pro-life, very family-oriented and I do have my spiritual beliefs – all the characteristic attributes of a good Republican. So what was it that turned me off of Ron Boehme?
Well, for one, he came across as a well-dressed prick, a Trojan Horse that looked sharp and neat on the outside but was, I feel, disingenuous on the inside and filled with bigotry and bitterness, one who considered himself so far above the majority of his constituents that I constantly felt he was looking down his nose at us. I thought he missed his mark in life – he probably would have made a fortune and sucked millions of dollars from blindly loyal religious nuts had he become a televangelist. His whole delivery smackled of an infomercial or, worse yet, a Bible-thumping crusade. Okay, Ron, we know you are against the gay lifestyle. So are the majority of us. Move on. But no, he had to keep coming back to it and blaming that for the demise of the family unit, the demise of Christianity, the crack that would someday split apart America. He went on and on about family and how the family unit is being destroyed by Democrats (and by gays). I kept thinking of my wonderful family and all the wonderful family units in my family and social circles and kept trying to connect the dots, but all the lines kept pointing to “pompous asshole.”
Larry Seaquist, on the other hand, talked at length about social and fiscal conservatism. He had real ideas about how to shrink spending and how to bring common-sense to our local government. He didn’t preach, nor did he stoop to Boehme’s level to hurl personal insults. I was very impressed with what I heard, even coming from a Democrat.
Let’s hope that he lives up to his words and that he serves us well. As for Ron Boehme, he might want to take my suggestion and get into televangelism. Or selling Amway. Or snake-oil. Because that’s, figuratively speaking, all I heard from him during that 30 minute sermon of his. Kitsap County is better off without him.
Whew, when even someone who agrees with you on the issues sees through you…
Thank you Mr. Boehme for providing an honest picture of yourself on your website. I think it will go a long way in helping voters understand just what sort of outfit is behind the mean-spirited Ref 71 attack on Washington Families.

I’ve been reading a book and just picked it back up this weekIt’s titled American Fascists: the christian right and the war on america As has been repeated throughout that wonderful book, the right will not stop at any low point. Just when you think they can’t go any lower, they do. They say our movement is morally bankrupt and yet they commit atrocities and try to say it wasn’t them.
/sigh. Those who can’t own their own words don’t deserve a voicebox.
Um…how many?It would be nice if these lunatics could at least make up their “minds” about the number of abortions performed. I’ve seen them claim figures ranging from ten million per year to twenty million to forty five million since Roe v. Wade to sixty million since then to “hundreds of millions.” I know facts don’t matter to these clowns, but still… Then again, I’m sure they’ve gotten all these figures from various “translations” of the Bible they’ve commissioned to buttress their dippy bullcrap.
they also don’t agree on how many thousands of years“traditional” marriage has happened. the range i’ve heard is anywhere from 2,000 to 10,000. the latter number, of course, predates the supposed creation date of the earth. that god, he plans ahead!
