Over at the Intertubes, , I wrote the following as the description for this video:

Weld County Colorado District Attorney Ken Buck answers a question posed by Pam’s House Blend’s transgender new media reporter, which was to effect:

What message does the jury in the Angie Zapata Hate Crime Murder Trial send to transgender residents? What should trans people take away about the city of Greeley from this?

I didn’t get the whole question out because the DA was visibly lit up when I began asking my question, and thanked me for the question, and resulted in me losing my train of thought. Engh, such is life.

I lobbed him a soft ball, and he hit it out of the park with his answer. It’s only a 42 second YouTube, and I think it’s well worth the less than a minute it will take to hear the answer to the question.

Also, by the way, I was afraid before when I came to Greeley. Leaving, I’m afraid no more. The people here in this town were nothing but wonderful to me, and the convictions by the jury told me that Greeley, Colorado doesn’t tolerate hate violence against in their backyard. That the Greeley Police Department did such a thorough job in investigating this case, and that that the Weld County District Attorney’s office fought so vigorously for a First Degree Murder and Bias Motivated Crime conviction sends me the message that this city is going to fight to keep me safe.

I’m going to think of Greeley Colorado as my second home — I feel welcome here.

Below the fold is a video of the District attorney entire statement after the convictions, and all the questions all the reporters asked during that news conference.

At about the 8:15 minute mark in this video is where I posed my question to the District Attorney.
