It’s a painful video to watch. There is the real personal losses of real family members and friends who lost Angie to hate crime violence.
I cried the first time I saw the video…and the second…and the third. I can’t watch the video a fourth time as yet,
but I probably will be watching this video a fourth, fifth, and likely twenty-something-ish time during the trial of Angie Zapata’s alleged killer — a trial which begins on Tuesday of next week. I’ve lit a candle for Angie on my Facebook and Twitter pages, as ProgressNow Colorado has asked all of us who care about Angie Zapata, her family, her friends, and her community to do:
We’re asking everyone who joins Light a Candle for Angie to change their profile picture to a candle or you with a candle as an online vigil for Angie. Please change your profile pic and leave it up for the start of the trial.
So, if you have a Facebook or MySpace profile, consider replacing your profile picture with a picture of a candle — or a picture of you holding a candle — until the trial is over. And, consider becoming a member of the Light a Candle for Angie Zapata Facebook cause.
There are other resources that will be available during the trial. One is the Twitter JusticeForAngie ID, by which you can follow microblogging of the courtroom developments.
Here’s a (at this point) complete listing of all of the official, Angie Zapata trial resources:

For Angie.
Another for Angie
Good information, Autumn.Thank you. And thank you for caring and acting when it seems that so few transgender people do.
Maybe Angie and her survivors will find justice in Greeley.
Keep up your usual excellent work — I look forward to reading your reports about the people and events in, and out of, the courtroom.
Joined facebook group….Thanks Autumn.
Website for Hate Crimes?I’ve asked before but cannot find a database online for hate crimes against queers.
Since our fellow HETS literally have NO IDEA how often we are killed for BEING – I’d like to refer them to a national list of known hate crimes. Please send me a private message if you know of one – bisceglia2000@yahoo.com
