This is a media ad that GLAAD, and the coalition working for Justice For Angie, paid to put in targeted mainstream media publications for today’s issues. It’s an important component in reminding broader society that trans people are human. (Select image to see full sized PDF of the ad.)
More to come a little later today on what you, the blender, can do to ensure Justice For Angie.

Powerful adIt affects me much the same way the “please don’t divorce” video did. There’s nothing like having to look right into the eyes of grieving, maybe angry people.
Well said. How terribly sad that Angie’s family are doing this in the first place, and how incredibly correct that they are.
I agreeCountering the right wing attempts to dehumanize us at every opportunity is a must if we want to get the support we need from the general public. We need to show our faces, if we can, and let them know we are more like them than we are different.
and our families nned to show their faces.that was the other powerful aspect of this ad that took a while to sink in and for my brain to recognize. of course in angie’s case, it has to be her family because she is no longer here. but what about the rest of us? does it take our murders to get our families front and center, staring down the bigots with us? i think this ad affected me so deeply because besides knowing the obvious of why the zapatas are looking me in the eye, it is the family of one of our sisters looking me in the eye.
Ms. Zapata has not been forgotten or minimalized.I have been worried that Angie Zapata’s murder might get lost in the whirlwind of changes we have been experiencing on other issues important to us.
This ad tells us otherwise.
Or that activists for Angie and her survivors might take some actions to unduly prejudice the Greeley community against her.
Since I do not live in Colorado, I can not say for sure, but it appears that Angie’s allies are waging a savvy campaign for justice in Weld County.
