This level of hypocrisy by Papa Ratzi, given the millions already shelled out because of the criminal priests the church allowed to run amok abusing children is mind boggling.How can he say these things with a straight face at this point? It only opens the wounds all over again. I can’t imagine what those who suffered abuse in the massive scandal must think about this.
“Let us think of those street children who do not have the blessing of a family home,” he said during the solemn mass at St. Peter’s Basilica.“Let us think of those children who are victims of the industry of pornography and every other appalling form of abuse, and thus are traumatised to the depths of their soul.”
Benedict said Catholics had to “do everything in our power to put an end to the suffering of these children.”
In the past year the Pope has repeatedly addressed the issue of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy, but did not raise it in his Christmas homily.
Everything in his power? Can he not afford a plane ticket to send Cardinal Law back stateside to face the music? Just asking.

“everything in our power”I have one. All those kids he’s so concerned about not having a family home? Why do Catholic adoption agencies block same-sex couples from adopting children? More children could have homes if Catholic social services didn’t try to prevent families from forming or taking in more children.

Benedict is a piece of garbage of a human being. And that is all he is. A Poop or pope, which every you prefer is not some super human. He hides criminals so they don’t face prosecution.

Girls are threatened with death and maiming by acid attacks in Afghanistan if they seek an education.
Girls in the near east, middle asia and Africa suffer from rapes and arranged marriages to much older men. These brides are as young as eleven years old and are subject to abuse and death and illness from premature childbearing.
Gay children suffer from mental, emotional abuse and are abandoned illegally by their parents to the streets where they are at risk from addiction, violence and disease.
The female victims of priest abuse are virtually forgotten, as if girls have less value than if people think boys are menaced by gay males.

Oh like advocating BIRTH CONTROL and condoms. Especially in countries where the child death rate is high from DISEASE and POVERTY.
Children born into poverty in countries with no infrastructure to support them, are also countries that are VERY religious. Either Catholic, or Muslim.

He’s all about children being born, regardless of not enough adults to handle the supply load?
Demonizing people because they DON’T procreate either by choice or because they are gay, demonizing non procreative sex is insanity in a bottle.
When the reality is that the Pope has to call for the end of abuse and proper support of children in the first place, it shows the failures of his office, not it’s triumphs of religious influence on the world.
He won’t admit that children aren’t loved, the misery exacted on them for being poor, for being gay…for being anything but truly wanted, shows he’s out of touch with the realities of raising or BEING a child under less than ideal circumstances that HIS God, isn’t providing.
Less children in the world to suffer so, isn’t nearly the sin that bringing MILLIONS of children into the sins of the adults is.
He can sit on his throne and talk the game, but the masses out there need another message that jibes with solutions to problems that the Pope isn’t interested in hearing.
We need to get the whole text of the Pope’s midnight homily…Yesterday evening, on my way home from work, I heard a story on the Pope’s midnight mass homily. The story mentioned that he (the Pope) said something like that at the moment of the birth of Jesus, God came down from the heavens and entered the baby Jesus to live amongst us in human form, or some such.
Doesn’t this directly contradict the doctrine of human life beginning at conception?

We owe gay marriage in MA to John Paul XXIIIWe actually do owe gay marriage to John Paul XXIII because he wrote a document in the early 1960′s instructing the church not to hand pedophile priests over to the police, but rather to move them to a new parish and pay off the victims.
This was the blueprint used in Massachusetts to move priests around. The repression in the Catholic community was so pronounced that the church usually didn’t have to do anything more than that. By the end of these many years of slow-motion meltdown of the scandal, people like my neighbor were encouraging their husbands to listen outside the confessional when their sons went in to make sure the priest wasn’t engaged in some kind of scandalous activity. This is what it took to smush the Catholic Church in Massachusetts, which otherwise would have had the financial means, through threat and clout, to push through the referendum on gay marriage which we might frankly have lost. We might also have won: the fact that most of the gay community are also native to Massachusetts is an advantage they did not have in California.
It’s a strong hint of the strides we will make as Christianism is weakened by itself.
