I haven’t worked up the nerve to go into the comments (up to 115 already) of this article at ABCNews. I can only imagine how bad the trans-bashing gets in there.
Thomas Beatie, the transgender man who made headlines as the so-called “pregnant man,” gave birth Sunday to a healthy baby girl, ABC News has learned.The birth – at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, Oregon – was natural, according to a source, who added that reports that Beatie had a caesarean section are false.

But I think I will reenter this comment here, so that we can all keep our perspective a little. This is one of the better MSM cartoons I have seen. In our local paper they put a BIZARRO that shows a man and woman (wife presumably) talking outside two bathroom doors. One has the skirted female symbol, one the kilted male symbol, e.g. same of course. CAPTION: I can never tell which bathroom to use when I am in Scotland. Curiouser and curiouser… just accept and let live and love, please.

Bashing is going onOK, I snuck a peak over at ABC News. Yep, there’s lots of bashing going on.
Some of it is homophobic. Go figure. The boneheads commenting over at ABC News don’t even know the difference between sexual orientation and gender identity. I wonder if they’re from West Virginia?

I read some comments on ABC…not too bad. A lot of talk on is Beatie a ‘he or she’. Why do some feel the need to define other peoples lives for them? I wish ‘OFF’ spray repelled stupid people! They think as rationally as an insect. No offense buggies!

I’ve never been to West Virginia but I get more than my share of crap from people badmouthing Texas without ever having been here or known an actual Texan. It’s wrong to lump in the 18 or so million progressive Texans with the jerks that are in charge and West Virginia, (and Tennessee for that matter), is exactly the same.

this brings out what people really are I’ll take decent folks like T. Beatie any day, over the scary mean folks who criticize him and his family.
When I watched Oprah…with the family there, I saw an exceptionally good looking, kind hearted and loving family there.
This little girl was anticipated with much love and joy, not only for her parents, but her two big sisters. I was thinking, what a LUCKY baby! Mr. Beatie was showing a lot of love to his wife, by carrying this child, because his wife could not.
It amuses me no end to think of how many men would REALLY have a baby if medical science gave them the opportunity?
I see and hear about so many horrors concerning abused and neglected children and so many of them could benefit from decent folks like the Beaties.
And this world needs more love like the Beaties have for each other and this little girl.
They are teaching us something, they really are. At least those who have love enough in themselves to know it.
Well, if this country can let conservatives marry and have children to raise in their dysfunctional homes, Beatie shouldn’t be much of an issue at all. At least we know the child will be loved, rather than seen as a Republican lump of coal to be molded into a hate-thy-neighbor machine for the white baby anatomically correct Jesus.

Maz’l tovMaz’l tov (congratulations) to Thomas, Nancy and baby. I watched their Oprah appearance on youtube, and came away with the impression that Thomas is a true mensch.
You know, I am of two minds on this…..On the one hand, I want to go into the MSM sites and post something supportive of the Beatie family; if each person who reads the Blend did so, that would be a lot of supportive messages.
On the other hand, it is possible that every supportive post would just give the haters something to latch onto to continue spewing their hate all the longer–and in the course of defending their views, they might actually escalate the nastiness. This is a family not a political issue.
I feel like a hypocrite not sticking up for them, but it may be better in this case just to let it die down as quickly as possible.
